The Little Things: Taking a Moment for Just the Two of You

Your wedding day will be full, full of love, full of joy, and full of people who are so excited to celebrate with you. But between the getting ready, the family photos, the packed dance floor, and all the tiny timeline details, the day can pass in a heartbeat.

That’s why carving out intentional time for just the two of you can be one of the most meaningful parts of the entire celebration.

Why These Moments Matter

At The Boylston Rooms, we’ve seen how grounding and emotional it can be when couples intentionally pause the momentum of the day. Even just a few quiet minutes can help you reconnect, reflect on everything that’s happening, and soak in the magic of it all, together.

Because while the day is filled with joyful chaos, it’s also your day. You deserve space to breathe it in.

When to Take These Moments

There are several natural points throughout the day when couples at our venue carve out time for themselves:

  • The First Look: One of the most popular and emotional moments. Many couples choose to see each other in private before the ceremony, sharing honest reactions and heartfelt words without the pressure of an audience.

    • You can read more about the benefits of a First Look in one of our previous blog posts "The Little Things: First Touch vs First Look".

  • Post-Ceremony Pause: No matter the timeline, we always guide couples to a wedding suite immediately after their ceremony. It’s their first private moment as a married couple, a breath of calm, a chance to laugh, cry, hug, and simply be.

  • Sunset/Night Photos: These evening portraits offer a peaceful reset. The party goes on inside while you sneak away for five minutes of golden light, quiet conversation, and some of the most stunning images of the day.

  • The Private Last Dance: If you’re looking for a beautiful way to close the evening, a private last dance might be it. It’s just the two of you, surrounded by soft light and stillness, sharing a final moment before stepping out into married life.

    • You can find out how we coordinate this in one of our other blog posts "The Little Things: The Private Last Dance".

One of Our Favorite Memories

ree

One of our favorite captured moments wasn’t even a scheduled part of the day. A couple stepped outside for a few photos, and before reentering the reception, they paused outside the window. They stood hand-in-hand, watching their friends and family dancing and celebrating inside. It was pure joy and gratitude on their faces, the kind of moment you can’t choreograph, but you can create space for.

Making Room for These Moments

We encourage couples to build in quiet moments when creating their timelines, especially ones like a first look or a private last dance that need a little planning. But we also know the best moments can be spontaneous. If one arises, your coordinator should be there to support it, even if it means adjusting on the fly (in most cases).

All we ask is: tell us what’s important to you. If you want space to be present with each other, say so. We’ll help protect those moments and give you the room to feel them.

Because in the end, it’s not just about the flowers or the playlists or the timeline, it’s about the two of you, living your love story, one quiet moment at a time.
