From Volleyball to Vows: Layne & J. Bailey's Couple Spotlight

Some love stories begin with a spark; others begin with a volleyball to the face.

Layne and J. Bailey met in a sand volleyball league in Denver, Colorado, both chasing new adventures after college. What started as a lighthearted accident quickly turned into an incredible partnership, and soon they found themselves not just playing on the same team but building a life together.

Their story continued with a heartfelt surprise proposal on the shores of Martha’s Vineyard, a place full of family tradition and summer memories. From there, wedding planning began and their search for the perfect venue brought them back to Massachusetts, close to J. Bailey’s family.

A Venue with Warmth, Charm, and… Huge Windows

“The Boylston Rooms was actually the only venue we toured,” Layne shared. “I had dreamed of getting married in a space with massive windows and natural light and the ceremony room was just stunning. When we saw it in person, we instantly fell in love.”

Beyond the architecture, it was the experience that won them over.

“We were blown away by the reusable decorations and how much was already included,” Layne said. “As someone who doesn’t have an eye for design, this took so much pressure off. The staff were so kind and genuine, and we felt at ease from day one.”

Cozy, Elegant, and a Little Bit Magical

Layne and J. Bailey envisioned a winter wedding full of warmth and elegance and the day could not have been more perfect. With a color palette of black, white, gold, and deep green, they filled the space with candles, lights, and lush greenery.

Then the snow arrived light, magical, and right on cue.

“It was snowing during our ceremony, and the snow falling through the giant windows behind us was absolutely magical,” Layne said. “Taking photos outside in the snow with Myles and our photographers was such a fun, unforgettable experience. It was the cherry on top of our cozy winter dream.”

A Team That Felt Like Family

For Layne and J. Bailey, what made their day truly stress-free was the care and dedication of the Boylston Rooms team.

“Myles and Jen were incredible. From setting up décor to walking us through every step of the day, they made sure we never had to worry. They even made plates of food for us during the reception while we mingled with guests,” Layne shared.

Their wedding party was so impressed that several joked about booking Myles and Jen for their own future weddings even if it meant flying them out!

A Moment to Remember

While the celebration was filled with laughter and dancing, Layne recalled one quiet moment that stood out most: “Right after the ceremony, we had five minutes alone in the wedding suite. We cried, laughed, toasted with champagne, it was just the two of us, and it’s one of my absolute favorite memories.”

Layne & J. Bailey’s Advice to Other Couples

“Don’t worry about everything being perfect,” they said. “Everyone is there to celebrate your love. Let your coordinators take care of the details and stay present in the moment with your partner. Take mental pictures. Soak it all in.”
